NEWS: Lacho set to take on the world with GB

March 29, 2024

Aspray Glasgow West sponsored Glasgow Clan forward Robert Lachowicz has been selected for the Great Britain Men’s squad for the World Championships in May.

The 34-year-old will represent his country once more in the top tier after former Clan coach and GB boss Pete Russell announced his team that will travel to Czechia later this year.

For Lachowicz, it’s a chance to add to his 81 caps and another crack at some of the top teams in the competition.

“It’s always an honour to be called up for your country and it’s exciting to still be involved with the national team,” he said.

“After winning promotion from Division 1A last year, the chance to rub shoulders with some of the big names again is something to look forward to.

“I consider myself lucky to have this opportunity again and after enjoying it a lot the last time we were there, we want to make a good account of ourselves again.

“There’s a lot of hockey to be played between now and then so I’m focussed on what needs done with the Clan, but the chance to go to Czechia is definitely something to look forward to.”

GB will play a couple of warm up games against Poland on Friday 26th April in Leeds then in Nottingham on Saturday 27th April.

Then it’s off to Prague where they begin their campaign against reigning champions Canada on Saturday 11th May.

GB will also take on the hosts Czechia, Finland, Switzerland, Denmark, Norway and Austria.
