SIGNING: Kielb checks in at Clan
The Glasgow Clan are delighted to announce the signing of six-foot-three Canadian defenceman Darien Kielb for the 2024-25 season.
The 25-year-old comes to Glasgow following a spell in Slovakia with Dukla Trencin, but primarily with experience in the AHL and the ECHL.
And Kielb, who hails from Hamilton, Ontario, says he was sold on what head coach Corey Neilson had to say to him, making his decision an easy one.
“I’m super excited to get to Glasgow to meet everyone and all the fans,” he said. “I’ve had very positive feedback about the organisation and the city.
“After doing some research and talking to coach Neilson and learning about his vision for the season, I was more than happy to be part of it.
“It was a no-brainer for me to sign, and now I can’t wait to move over there, get to know everyone and get the new season rolling.”
Kielb made 16 appearances in regular season action and in the play-offs for Trencin, where he scored two goals and two assists after going there in January.
He began last season in the ECHL with Fort Wayne Komets, scoring once and adding seven assists in 16 games before making a short move to Maine Mariners, picking up three points (one goal and two assists) in seven outings.
Prior to that, Kielb had 41 AHL games under his belt, scoring four times with nine assists dressing for Bakersfield Condors and Laval Rocket.

Clan coach Corey Neilson spoke of his latest signing’s attributes and reckons he could be in for a big year in the Elite League.
“Darien is a big, mobile two-way defensemen and skating is one of his primary assets,” he said.
“He possesses the offensive tools and he’s at that growth age for a defenseman where I see him having a big year.”
Kielb will wear the #74 jersey in the new season.
