Braehead Clan captain Matt Keith says he’s looking forward to coming home to Braehead – but would have liked a victory to return with.
Clan are back on home ice this Saturday when Dundee Stars provide the opposition, but continue to struggle to find any semblance of consistent form.
And he insists Sunday’s 6-4 loss to Edinburgh Capitals is one that will annoy him all week ahead of Saturday’s game.
“It’s been a tough month being on the road, including practice as well and we were hoping to finish it off with a win in Edinburgh on Sunday and we didn’t do that,” he said.
“It would have been better heading home with a win and it would have been great to see the fans again with those victories behind us.
“We had every opportunity to go there and take the two points and we let it slip away. That will eat at us all week and we have to be ready to go for Saturday.”
Keith however refuses to accept any excuses for the indifferent form that sees them currently eighth in the Elite League table.
He reckons returning to their routine of playing and training at home will be a huge help and was left to rue the fact that out of the six games they played, they won three.
He added: “Having the normal routine for practicing and playing at home again is huge. It’s tough when you’re away and you spend extra time driving.
“At the same time, there are no excuses. We’ve done this every year where we’ve had a period of time away from home.
“If you look back at the six games on the road, it’s very frustrating because we could have won all six and we’ve let the three Sunday games slip away.
“We can’t win one then lose one and expect success and that was the most frustrating part about Sunday.”
