Jordan Buesa has been been a Braehead Clan fan since the club began in 2010 and now he can’t believe he’s part of them.
The 16-year-old from Troon is the first player to be accepted into the brand new apprenticeship scheme as was announced on Sunday.
Now he’s looking forward to working with head coach Ryan Finnerty as he looks to develop his game and forge a career.
“I’ve been a fan of the Clan since the club started in 2010 and from watching them to now step on the ice with them, it’s a huge honour and I can’t believe it’s happening,” Jordan said.
“It’s an honour to be chosen as the first apprentice for the club and the main thing for me is development as well as learning from Ryan and the other guys on the team.
“I’m keen to see what they do and how they do it and hope they can give me some tips on where I can improve my game.
“Ryan’s a great coach and been at a couple of training sessions with him and I enjoy working with him so far.”
After starting out as North Ayrshire’s academy, he went to Toronto Titans in Canada last season and is back in Scotland looking to develop.
Jordan spoke of the sort of player he is, where he wants to develop and what he’s made of the reaction from the fans since the announcement of his joining the team.
He added: “The big thing is working on my game in practice and get some ice time at the weekend with a team in the EPL or the NIHL.
“I’m a power forward and I like to get involved and get stuck in. I like to play hard, but I’m looking to learn in all aspects of my game.
“Overall I feel I can develop and I’ve been overwhelmed from the support of the fans so far since the news broke. It’s been really good.
“Now I can’t wait to get started.”
