Glasgow’s Braehead Clan forward Mike Hammond has been named the Elite League Player of the Week following a ten-point week.
Hammond’s contribution of six goals and four assists helped his team to three wins last week as his hot streak hit 21 points in his last nine games.
The 26-year-old put recent success down to his team-mates, who themselves have performed consistently all season.
“It sounds great to be given this accolade and it’s very humbling when you consider the great players in the league,” Hammond said. “It’s nice to be noticed certainly.
“It’s been a great team effort over the last week, with three wins and the team is rolling well.
“I put it down to playing with good players and I have more of a role on the team so I’m trying to take advantage of that. It’s not just our line. All the lines are going and it’s great to see.
“The team’s been behind us all year. They’re easy to play with and sometimes watching Beca and Pitt play together is good to watch also.
“Sometimes we know where we need to be on the ice and we tend to think alike about and are similar players. It makes it easy and the chemistry came together for us.”
