Former Braehead Clan forward Ben Davies is looking forward to meeting some of his old team-mates on Sunday, as the Clan travel to face the Coventry Blaze.

The Welshman signed for the Blaze earlier this week following stints at Swindon Wildcats in the EPL and with North American side Norfolk Admirals.

Davies says the fixture couldn’t be better as he prepares to lock horns with his old team in what will be his home debut at the Skydome.

“The scheduling couldn’t have gone any better when I found out my first home game for Coventry would be against the Clan,” he said.

“I’d spoken to one or two, but it will be good to catch up with some of the boys I played with after the game and go from there.

“I really enjoyed my last two years at Braehead and I loved the club, the city and the supporters, who were great with me in my time there.

“I think I was well liked, which helped me, and ‘Finner’ (coach Ryan Finnerty) was great to work with. I made some close friends and I can’t speak highly of my experience there.”

Davies also gave his thoughts on Clan’s season so far and he admits he’s expecting his new coach, Danny Stewart, to tap into his insider knowledge of his old side.

He added: “From the highlights I’ve watched of them this season, they seem to be unlucky with a couple of bounces on one or two occasions.

“They’ve had a couple of under par performances as well, which doesn’t help, but that’s what happens sometimes.

“I’m expecting Danny to ask me about my knowledge of Braehead over the weekend, but I want to go out and play my best hockey and go from there.”
