Glasgow’s Braehead Clan were delighted to present a cheque to Erskine Charity for £9,525.50 at Wednesday’s home game v the Manchester Storm.
Erskine were selected as one of the club’s charity partners during the 2016/17 season with Clan players having attended a number of events at their nearby Bishopton care home.
Following five highly successful limited edition jersey auctions, which included an Erskine camouflage design, the Clan were able to finalise their donation.
Clan Hockey & Operations Director Gareth Chalmers commented: “We’ve been delighted to work with and support Erskine during the 2016/17 season.
“We’ve thoroughly enjoyed having the veterans along to a number of our home games at Braehead and provide the superb financial donation.
“This is as much about the Clan fans than anyone else, it’s their superb support of the jersey auctions that has allowed us to make such a substantial financial contribution.”
Erin Leggate, Community Fundraiser for Erskine commented: “On behalf of everyone at Erskine, veterans, families and staff I would like to extend our thanks to everyone at the Braehead Clan for all of their support throughout this season and to all of the fans for their generosity also.
“It’s been great for our residents to go along the games, for some it’s been a whole new experience and opened them up to a new sport and for others like George who attended Wednesday’s winning game against Storm it was a chance to watch a sport he already enjoys.
“We’re also grateful to the players for taking time out of their training schedule to pay our Bishopton Home visits and meet our veterans.
“The Clan’s donation will allow us to continue our high standards of care and support for veterans.”
