NEWS: Clan announce captains and assistants for new season

September 7, 2022

The Glasgow Clan, sponsored by Aspray Glasgow West, are delighted to reveal their captains and assistant captains for season 2022/23.

Last season’s top scorer Mathieu Roy has been named captain for the new campaign and takes the role over from Dyson Stevenson, who left the club after last season.

Assisting him will be Mitch Jones and Nolan LaPorte, who are mainstays of the team and have become key players under Malcolm Cameron.

However, in home games, one of the assistant berths will be handed to Craig Peacock while Shawn Boutin will be the other assistant captain on away games.

Head coach Malcolm Cameron admits it was a difficult choice with the characters he has in the locker room, but is expecting leadership all over the locker room.

“We’re very fortunate to have great leadership in our team this year and I had lots of different players to choose from,” he said.

“Even though we have guys who won’t be wearing letters this season, we still expect them to be leaders particularly those with experience in the league and long pro careers.

“However, the guys we did select as captains, we expect them to lead both on and off the ice and help lead the Clan to good things.

“Having the guys with tremendous experience with the team and with the club is something we’re fortunate to have and they have the qualities that will rub off on our younger players.”
