NEWS: Cameron already at work on second season

Aspray Glasgow West sponsored Glasgow Clan head coach Malcolm Cameron has admitted he’s already been working on his recruitment for 2022/23.
The Canadian is confirmed for a second season and while the conclusion of his maiden campaign is still to be determined, he already has an eye on the make-up of his team for the new campaign.
And he admitted he’s been working on it longer than anyone would have thought.
“I started back in January,” he admitted. “When I was looking to add players in before the deadline and I started to identify candidates who could join us late or who would be out there.
“Since the start of the year, I’ve probably spoken to over 100 players, but I’ll get through this month then start to work on the list we have.
“My primary focus is finishing this campaign of course, but I have my list of top candidates that I’ll work on in due course.”
The 52-year-old has signed on the dotted line and ready to continue the work he has began this season after the team returned from an enforced Covid absence.
He spoke of his time in Glasgow so far and why this season was just the beginning for him.
“I knew when I came here this season it would be a challenging one,” he said. “But I’m definitely excited at being able to start in our own building and having a full off-season to prepare.
“It’s going to sound like a cliche – and I mean this honestly – but I’ve loved the strong support the fans have given me.
“At home is one thing, but on the road where they make themselves so loud and passionate and that’s been a really cool experience.
“Continuity is important as a coach and it’s definitely nice to come back to a place where I get great support, from the organisation and staff.
“From a personal standpoint, Glasgow has become very comfortable for me and I’m happy to be returning for next season.”
