GLASGOW CLAN MATCH REPORT: DUNDEE STARS 1 GLASGOW CLAN 4
Glasgow Clan began 2019 in the same way they ended 2018, with a good victory over a Scottish rival to move into fifth place in the Elite League table.
Pete Russell and the team first footed Dundee Stars looking to build on the excellent Hogmanay win over Fife Flyers and the travelling fans weren’t disappointed.
The opening goal came after the opening eight minutes when Tyson Wilson assisted for Matt Haywood, who broke the deadlock.
Clan were soon two up when Brendan Connolly got on the board six minutes as things started to look good for them.
Dundee had their chances in the second, but couldn’t find a way and when the third goal for Glasgow came, it killed the Stars off.
Matt Beca was the man to get it as the lead was stretched early in the third period and the two points started to loom into view.
He made sure of it minutes later with Clan’s fourth and his second and the job was done as Clan collected the points that lifted them above Guildford Flames and Sheffield Steelers in the standings.
Stars’ only cheer came from Brian Hart with a goal in the last minute to deny Joel Rumpel a shutout.
The result was Clan’s 100th league win on the road as they prepare for Dundee to come to Glasgow on Saturday.
