GLASGOW CLAN MATCH REPORT: MANCHESTER STORM 3 GLASGOW CLAN 5

Glasgow Clan extended their winning run to five as they began the first of a double bill against Manchester Storm with a 5-3 win on the road.

The trip to Altrincham on Boxing Day was always going to be a difficult one, but it was one that proved to be successful as Clan’s recent good run of form continued.

It took nine minutes for Pete Russell’s team to open the scoring when Scott Pitt broke the deadlock, with Vaclav Stupka making the assist.

The lead was doubled just under three minutes later when Brendan Connolly picked up his third goal in two games.

Storm weren’t just going to sit back and let Glasgow come in and take over and so that proved to be when Ryan Finnerty’s team halved the deficit.

Chris Auger was the man to get it, but the home celebrations were quickly dampened when Clan restored their two-goal lead.

Stupka was the man to get it as the away fans were celebrating once more, but Storm got themselves back in it as Ciaran Long found the net.

With a goal in it going into the third, the next goal would have been crucial and for the Clan, it was them who got it as Connolly struck again.

Felix-Antoine Poulin added a third for Manchester not long after to keep the game tight and as the minutes ticked down, it was still on a knife edge.

However, Storm had to go for broke and pulled netminder Matt Ginn in an attempt to pull level, but Pitt bookended the scoring with Clan’s fifth to secure the victory, with the second part of the double header to come in Glasgow tomorrow.
