The Glasgow Clan reinvigorated their hopes of qualification from Challenge Cup Group B after getting the edge in a 2-1 homecoming win over Fife Flyers.
As ever between these two, it was full of excitement and chances as both sides looked to gain two valuable Challenge Cup points.
Shane Owen in the Fife goal was kept busy in the opening part of the game as chances from Vaclav Stupka and Scott Pitt kept him on his toes.
But gradually, the Flyers started to work their way back into the game and Joel Rumpel, in the home net, had to be on high alert when he denied Joe Basaraba from close range.
Just when the period seemed to be winding down, the Clan got the opening goal when Gerard Hanson finished off from in front of the crease.
Flyers went close when Chase Schaber, Evan Bloodoff and Bari McKenzie all combined, but couldn’t make anything count.
Then Pitt teed up Matt Beca shortly after, but Owen again showed his class with a terrific block.
Pete Russell’s side doubled the lead when Craig Peacock’s chance was saved, but Josh Gratton finished the follow-up.
Fife created a nervy end for the home side though when Ricards Birzins played a pass forward for Paul Crowder, who tucked in from close range.
The Clan held on for victory in the end to take two Challenge Cup points with two group games to play.
