CARDIFF DEVILS 5 GLASGOW CLAN 2
It was another night of disappointment for Glasgow Clan as they went down 5-2 to Cardiff Devils to end a crazy 13-game run in the last 27 days.
After losses to Nottingham Panthers and Guildford Flames at the weekend, Pete Russell was looking for his men to bounce back against the Devils, locked in a two-way fight with Belfast for the league title after losing their two games at the weekend too.
It was Cardiff that drew first blood when Gleason Fournier scored after eight minutes with a shorthanded effort after Charles Linglet took a seat in the penalty box.
Clan didn’t take long to respond as Matt Beca finished off a combination move with Scott Pitt to beat Ben Bowns in the Cardiff net to level the scores up.
Bryce Reddick restored the Devils’ lead in the second when he found himself in a pocket of space to deliver his effort into the net.
But, once again, Glasgow were on level terms within a couple of minutes as Matt Haywood found the net for his fourth goal against the Devils this season.
Josh Batch responded to once more, put Cardiff in front with a goal that needed the technology to confirm its legality and making the score 3-2.
A tip from Joey Martin then saw the home side push further ahead to start making the game a little out of reach for Glasgow ahead of the second break.
Linglet added a fifth to make sure in the third to the delight of the home fans and a goal that ended the game as a contest, as Clan had no response in another difficult road game.
