GAME REPORT: Clan finish Summer Series in style

August 26, 2018

Rasmus Bjerrum struck in the third period to secure a massive confidence boosting win as Glasgow Clan edged Stavanger Oilers 2-1 in the Summer Series.

Pete Russell’s men wrapped up the pre-season in style, coming from behind to take victory against a team with good European credentials.

The visitors opened the scoring after three minutes when Markus Søhberg tucked away the rebound after Stephan Vigier had tested Joel Rumpel immediately before.

Peter Lorentzen struck the post shortly after to cause some concern for the Clan defence, but the home team rallied and got their equaliser.

Good passing play saw Matt Beca set up Scott Tanski, who turned and fired on Oilers goalie Henrik Holm, finding the back of the net to draw Clan level.

Pete Russell’s side could have been ahead minutes later when Matt Stanisz found himself clean though on Holm, but the Norwegian goaltender got a touch to take the puck away.

Both sides hit the pipes in the second, but the score remained the same as the tempo was slightly lower in this session.

Mats Larsen Mostue struck a diagonal shot that rang the bell on Rumpel’s right as the puck bounced back into play.

Then Zach Sullivan flung one into the centre, which seemed to take a touch off Matt Beca before striking the bar, but there was no advance on the scoring.

Pitt found himself clean through on Holm in the third, but the Stavanger goalie was equal to it as he poked the puck away.

But Bjerrum came up with the goods with six minutes to go, striking on the powerplay over Holm’s shoulder after being set up by Brendan Connolly, securing the victory.
