Sheffield Steelers vs Glasgow Clan

The Glasgow Clan endured a difficult night on the road as they fell to an 8-1 defeat against the Sheffield Steelers at the Utilita Arena Sheffield in their penultimate game of the 2025/26 regular season.

After a scoreless opening period, the game quickly turned in the second as the Steelers found their rhythm and took control of proceedings.

The hosts opened the scoring through Brett Ritchie, who was picked out in the high slot by Evan Jasper. Just 17 seconds later, Mitchell Balmas doubled the advantage with a wrist shot that beat Clan netminder Liam Souliere. The pressure continued to mount as Stephen Harper added a third from close range following Ritchie’s initial effort.

Sheffield made it four before the second intermission when Mitchell Heard teed up Ryan Tait for a one-timer from the slot, giving the home side a commanding lead heading into the final frame.

Reflecting on the defeat, Clan forward Hugo Roy acknowledged the need to quickly move on.

“This is one that we have to forget quickly,” he said. “The good thing is that we get to play this team again tomorrow, in front of our home crowd. We just have to be better. It’s more about us getting ready for playoffs now.”

The Steelers continued their dominance in the third period, with Kevin Tansey extending the lead early on. Heard then added another against his former side at 53:57 to make it six.

Roy grabbed a consolation for the Clan just 26 seconds later, providing a brief response, but further goals from Robert Dowd and a second of the night for Tansey rounded off the scoring at 8-1.

The Clan will now look to respond immediately as they return to home ice to face the Steelers once again, closing out the regular season in front of the Braehead faithful.
