The Premier Sports sponsored Glasgow Clan picked up their second win in their fourth preseason outing at home, this time against German second division side ECDC Memmingen Indians by a margin of 4-2.

Glasgow’s two Finnish players, Rasmus Tirronen and Juho Rautanen, as well as GB international, Rob Lachowicz laced up in purple for the first time this season after missing the first two weeks of action.

Tristin Langan got the Clan off to a hot start with a first time shot in the slot which was marginally forced wide by Memmingen netminder, Michael Bitzer.

Lachowicz marked his return to the Braehead ice with the opening goal in the game as he peeled through the slot and released a shot on the turn which fizzed low into the Indians net in the 13th minute of the game.

Glasgow held onto the momentum for the majority of the second period with Austin Mitchell-King attempting a through-the-legs shot which was kept out well by Bitzer.

Tirronen put on a solid display on the penalty kill for the Clan, with Cade Neilson sitting two minutes for a tripping minor as the new netminder kept out five shots during the five-on-four.

Glasgow then went on a powerplay but were pegged back by a shorthanded Memmingen goal as Jake Johnson misplaced a back pass and allowed Markus Lillich a free look at goal which he capitalised on with a first-time shot to equalise.

In the third period, the teams looked evenly matched as the game went down to the last five minutes with the score tied at one-apiece thanks to strong goaltending at both ends from Tirronen and Bitzer.

Debutant, Rautanen forced a breakthrough late on though as he snapped a shot from the right side which took a deflection on it’s way to the net and sailed over Bizter to give Glasgow a last-gasp lead.

Memmingen then pulled their netminder for the extra attacker, and the Clan pounced on the empty net with Neilson getting his first of the season after a selfless pass from David Madsen before Johnson scored his first goal in Glasgow to seal the win.

The Indians managed to squeeze a second goal past Tirronen with 10 seconds to go but it was little matter as the Clan picked up a 4-2 victory and the Finn was named player of the game by the Braehead crowd.
