Preseason | Glasgow Clan 4 ECDC Memmingen Indians 2

The Premier Sports sponsored Glasgow Clan rounded off their preseason round of games with a strong showing in a second straught 4-2 victory over the ECDC Memmingen Indians.

Glasgow defeated the Oberliga champions on Friday in a tight game with the score at 2-1 until the final three minutes before two empty net goals for the Clan and a last-minute consolation goal for the Indians padded the scoresheet.

The German side returned to Braehead licking their wounds from a second defeat in two days, as they travelled to Dundee and were picked apart by the Stars in a 6-1 thumping.

Tristin Langan got tonight’s game off to a hot start as he put the hosts ahead after just 90 seconds with a great first-time finish from the slot to get his second goal of preseason.

Alex Forbes got the rare chance to play forward as the Clan rolled out a six-man defence entirely of imports, and he took advantage of the opportunity as he hustled the puck up ice from his own end and dropped a perfect pass to the backdoor for Cole Kodsi to tap home a second goal for Glasgow.

Clan captain, Deven Sideroff brought the physicality with some great hits along the boards as Langan narrowly missed out on his second of the game as he attempted a backhand shot on the doorstep of the Memmingen net but was denied by Justas Roth’s blocker.

Langan was then denied by the crossbar on an agonisingly close shot on the powerplay before Brady Risk’s shot took a deflection and clipped the outside of the post on a 5-on-3 advantage as the Clan’s special teams struggled to break through the Indians defence.

Austin Mitchell-King broke out all alone on Roth’s net but couldn’t force the puck over the line as the Memmingen netminder picked up great momentum in the middle period, looking inpenitrable.

Nikita Krymskiy halved the visitors’ deficit with a tidy backhand roofed over Rasmus Tirronen from the edge of the crease to put ECDC on the boards.

Ross Armour reinstated Glasgow’s two-goal advantage with some relentless tenacity in the blue paint as he crammed his own rebound over the line shortly before Ludwig Nirschl got a second for Memmingen just one minute later.

Armour then got his second of the game as he scored just 9 seconds into a powerplay in the third period with a wicked sharp angle shot from close-range that nestled into the far corner perfectly.

Glasgow closed out the game with a 4-2 victory, and Armour was awarded Player of the Game by the fans as the Clan now set their sights on the Fife Flyers and Belfast Giants next weekend in their Challenge Cup opening games.
