GAME RECAP
Glasgow Clan’s weekend opener ended in defeat as Manchester Storm claimed a 7-3 home win at Planet Ice Altrincham.
Clan were looking to recover from Wednesday’s home loss to Coventry Blaze, but found themselves inside the opening four minutes.
Tyler Hinam was the man to get it, striking his shot from inside the blue line and the home side got themselves the best possible start.
Grant Hebert added a second a few minutes later when he was set up by Ryan Hughes and Clan found themselves chasing the game.
Glasgow hit back on the 17th minute on the powerplay as Hebert sat for a high stick, with Steven Seigo making the most of it with a deadly shot that flew past Storm goalie Evan Weninger.
They didn’t feel sorry for themselves for too long though as Loren Ulett restored the two-goal gap in the final minutes of the opening period.
Hughes added a fourth for Manchester in the 26th minute as they continued to get some joy in front of goal.
But Joe Hazeldine found the target against his old team for Clan’s second with a powerful effort to keep the visitors in the game.
A second for Hughes on the powerplay made sure Storm returned to the locker room three goals up as they moved into a 5-2 lead.
Despite Glasgow outshooting their opponents, it was Manchester who found the net next as Hebert picked up his second of the night as they made the most of another powerplay.
Clan did the same minutes later as a Deven Sideroff snapshot – his sixth goal in six days – closed the gap again albeit to three goals.
Corey Neilson’s men went for it in the final stages as netminder Landon Bow pulled, but Manchester struck again as Hebert completed his hat-trick.
