GAME RECAP

Glasgow Clan ended their weekend road trip on a disappointing note as Guildford Flames claimed the points in a 4-2 win for them at the Spectrum.

Clan arrived in from a win in Cardiff on Friday night, but couldn’t replicate the outcome, ending the weekend with a win and a loss for their effort.

The first period, like the night before in Wales, yielded no goals as both sides probed the other’s net, but no breakthrough could be found.

But, also like 24 hours before, an early goal in the second period kick started the scoring as the Flames found the net a minute after the restart.

Josh Waller was the man to get it, with a finish to the right of Landon Bow’s net to put the home side in front.

They added to it a couple of minutes as Ethan Strang completed the assist from Daniel Tedesco, doubling their lead as they asserted themselves in the middle period.

Mitchell Heard pulled one back for Glasgow on 27 minutes, wrapping it around Jake Kupsky in the Guildford net to reduce the lead to one.

Clan were ahead with shots on goal after two periods, but found themselves in a similar position as they were in Cardiff, going into the third trailing 2-1.

However, it wasn’t to go their way as Strang picked up his second of the night to restore the two-goal gulf and firmly reestablish their lead.

A short-handed goal from Tyson McLellan gave Glasgow some late hope in the final couple of minutes that they could at least salvage a point in a venue that hasn’t been kind to the Clan historically.

But Lewis Hook, on the empty net, delivered the insurance marker 35 seconds later to end the weekend on a bittersweet note for the Clan, as they headed home.
