GAME RECAP: Glasgow Clan 2 Sheffield Steelers 10

GAME RECAP

It was a night to forget as Glasgow Clan started poorly and never recovered as Sheffield Steelers took the points in a 10-2 result at Braehead Arena.

The visitors got off to the best possible start after 13 seconds when a quick pass from Brandon Whistle from the right found Mikko Juusola in the right place to tap it home from close range.

Aaron Fox’s side were two up shortly after when a shot from Daniel Leavens in the centre found its way through Landon Bow in the Clan net and the travelling fans were celebrating again.

Cole Ully tested Matt Greenfield up the other end for the home team, but the Steelers goalie covered it well, while a Marc-Olivier Vallerand chance was dealt with by Bow.

Greenfield made a phenomenal save to deny Mitchell Heard as the first period was starting to near its end.

But a turnover in their own zone was pounced on by Leavens, who fired home for his second and Sheffield’s third.

Lucas Brine replaced Landon Bow in the net for the second period and after a couple of good saves, it seemed like the rot had been stopped.

It didn’t deter the Steelers as Marc-Olivier Vallerand sniped one in from the inside left to increase their lead.

Mitchell Balmas added a fifth at the midway point, with Leavens completing his hat-trick not long after as the scoreline really started to look one-sided.

Mitchell Heard gave the home fans something to cheer about as he finished off his own rebound to get something on the board for the Clan.

But Steelers continued to find joy in the Glasgow zone as Balmas again, followed by Patrick Watling made it 8-1 by the end of the second period.

Leavens added his fourth after the second intermission to make things even more comfortable, with Watling making it double figures for the visitors.

Robert Lachowicz pulled another back, but the game was long gone, leaving Clan to lick their wounds on a disappointing night.
