The Premier Sports sponsored Glasgow Clan claimed two crucial points in a thrilling home win over the Manchester Storm in overtime thanks to a Tristin Langan snipe.

Glasgow’s lines were renewed with Cade Neilson returning in offence and Sami Aittokallio starting in net for the first time since January 4th along with Mick Messner making his debut for the club after signing midweek.

Manchester welcomed Joseph Nardi back to the lineup and started with Drew Derrider in net, the third most prolific netminder in the league this season, who managed an 98.18 save percentage last time out against the Clan.

Colton Poolman got the hosts off to a perfect start with a goal after just 66 seconds as his long-range drive sailed past Derrider to open the scoring early.

The first period was largely dominated by defence though as neither side was able to gain control or offensive momentum thanks to strong goaltending and some stifled play throughout.

Brandon Cutler eventually got the Storm back level with a powerplay goal as he slammed a shot from the blue line past Aittokallio with little left in the first.

In the second period, the excitement ramped up inside Braehead with far more physicality and back-and-forth play with three odd-man rushes coming in the one play early in the period.

Manchester took the lead through a smart rebound from Joseph Nardi as he reached wide to sweep a loose puck through a tight gap on the powerplay after the half-way point.

Brett Neumann responded for Glasgow with a neat rebound of his own shot tucked into the top corner but it only took 35 seconds for Loren Ulett to reinstate the visitors’ advantage with a breakaway goal.

Aittokallio did well to see out the rest of the middle frame, denying a snapped shot from close range by Brady Gilmour with a late dashed pad.

Brett Neumann came up big once again for Glasgow in the final frame as he slammed the puck into the roof of the net to tie the game at three apiece.

The Clan were dominant from then on, with Hugo Roy and Messner spearheading their attacks but Derrider somehow managed to force the game to extra periods with some exceptonal saves.

Langan was the hero in Braehead for the evening as he placed a postage stamp shot past Derrider to seal an overtime victory for the Clan after 80 seconds of 3-on-3 play.

Neumann was awarded player of the game in the post-match ceremonies as Glasgow rose to applaud a fantastic victory on home ice against a standings rival.
