GAME RECAP

Mitchell Heard scored another two and Cole Ully picked up his 100th point in all Elite League competitions as Glasgow Clan edged Manchester Storm in a 4-3 win at Braehead Arena.

It was a sixth straight win for Corey Neilson’s side as they continue to look up the standings and they worked hard to earn the points in this one.

Early chances from Rylan Schwartz, from the wide left position, then Deven Sideroff from a long pass by Joe Hazeldine warmed up Evan Weninger’s gloves early in the Manchester goal.

Craig Martin fired a quick release into the body of Landon Bow up the other end as Storm tried to take advantage on the powerplay.

Another low save denied Darien Kielb after he was played in by Keaton Jameson and soon the home fans were cheering.

Heard delivered an exquisite finish past Weninger after going backhand then forehand in front of the Manchester crease and the Clan were ahead halfway through the opening period.

Storm levelled a few minutes later as Tyler Hinam sent a shot in on the rebound after Dallas Ehrhardt was denied at the Clan net.

Glasgow restored their lead early in the second period with a delightful tic-tac-toe move as Steven Seigo set up Heard at Weninger’s left hand post before quickly picking out Sideroff, who smashed it in.

The visitors responded again as Chase Harrison sent the puck on the zone, causing chaos in the centre as Loren Ulett backhands into the net, via a touch from Chris Martenet on the way.

The Storm went close with chances either side of the second interval as Bow made a big save to deny Steven Johnson, with the post denying Jake Durflinger afterwards.

Heard got his second when Ully fired the puck in the direction of the net, where the in-form forward was on hand to tap in, making it 3-2 and confirming Ully’s landmark point.

Bow again came up huge to deny Ehrhardt as Manchester tried to turn up the heat in the third period as they chased another equaliser.

They duly got it with four to go as Alexis D’Aoust rifled into the Clan net on the powerplay and the game was tied up heading into the final stages.

Parity didn’t last long as Ully smashed a shot in from the inside left to edge Glasgow in front again, ensuring the points stayed north of the border.
