Glasgow Clan vs Guildford Flames

Joe Hazeldine and Tristin Langan combined to generate the first chance of the game as the Brit defenceman put a shot on net from distance which Langan followed into the crease but Justin Fazio managed to direct it wide with his blocker.

Jamal Watson then forced a save out of Sami Aittokallio as he ripped a shot from the blue line which went into the midriff of the Finnish netminder before he cut off Charlie Curti on a backdoor chance off the back of a breakaway generated by Watson.

Brayden Burke was the main source of offense for Glasgow as he displayed silky smooth sick handling to weave in between the Flames defence and eventually he turned provider with a perfect feed to Deven Sideroff who slammed home the opener.

Josh Nixon caused trouble for Aittokallio before the end of the period as he got on the end of a bouncing puck and boomed a shot which skipped along the ice awkwardly and forced a qucik reflex save with the leg pad.

In the second period, Cole Ully broke out on a two-on-one with Ethan Strang but the former Clan-forward didn’t need the help of his #93 as he slipped a quick shot low past Aittokallio to level the scoring.

Ully then fired a shot which deflected off the stick of Jason Fram and flew high into the Clan net to give Guildford the lead before Aittokallio had to make a great save on a sharp shot from Matt Alvaro after some great puck movement between he and Tyler Busch.

Darien Kielb sparked life back into the Clan in the third period when he dropped the gloves with Strang in front of the Clan net following some after-whistle jawing.

Alex Forbes quickly followed this up with his third goal of the season as Rob Lachowicz slid the puck across the hash marks and the #57 squeezed a shot through a tight angle to tie the game up.

Deven Sideroff then got tangled with Alvaro as tensions continued to rise on the ice, but all went quiet on the goal front as the sides were forced into overtime.

A poor line change from the Clan in 3-on-3 overtime allowed a breakaway for Curti who darted into the crease and snuck home the game winner under the pads of Aittokallio to leave the hosts with only one point at the end of the night.
