GAME RECAP
Glasgow Clan made it four wins in a row as they felt the love on Valentine’s Day for a 4-2 victory over Guildford Flames at Braehead Arena.
Coming off a penalty shots win over Nottingham Panthers last week, Clan were looking to extend their upturn in form and while it needed all hands on deck, they got the job done to start the weekend on a happy note.
Landon Bow, in the Clan goal, came up big with a save to deny Daniel Tedesco after a slip from Steven Seigo let in the Flames forward.
But it was the home team who took the lead as Felix Paré took off down the left, feeding the puck inside where Matt Berry glanced the touch in off his stick for the opener.
Guildford goalie Eamon McAdam made a big stop shortly after as Cole Ully was released down the right-hand side by a stretch Chris Martenet pass.
Tyson McLellan went close with a backhanded chance as Glasgow were on the powerplay, but it skidded narrowly wide before Bow again made a big save from Charlie Dodero.
Flames drew level as Jack Jacome was set up to deliver a shot into the top right-hand corner of the net as Clan didn’t quite deal with a defensive play.
But Keaton Jameson saw an effort move on by McAdam after the home forward had time to line up a shot, which was followed a minute later by Berry striking the post.
Clan saw a big chance denied late on in the second as Seigo tried to walk the puck into the net almost, where McAdam stuck out a stick.
The lead was restored for Glasgow as Cole Ully blasted his shot into the net on the powerplay from the centre after McLellan set him up with a short pass.
Seigo added a third in the third when Liam Finlay brought the puck in from the left corner, setting up the defenceman who unleashed a deadly into the roof of the Guildford net.
The visitors pulled one back in the final ten minutes on the powerplay as a shot from Tedesco was redirected into the home net by Brett Ferguson to make it a 3-2 game.
Clan had to defend a penalty kill in the final minutes, but nearly sprung a shorthanded goal as Paré saw his effort moved away by McAdam.
Flames pulled their netminder in the final couple of minutes in attempt to salvage something, but Glasgow finished it off as Finlay teed up McLellan for the empty net goal and two points.
