Glasgow Clan vs Fife Flyers

The Premier Sports sponsored Glasgow Clan tyrannized the Fife Flyers in a 5-0 drubbing on home ice to cement the Kirkcaldy club to last place while giving themselves a shot at progression in the standings.

Joe Hazeldine played a great defence-splitting pass to gift Tristin Langan a golden chance all alone in the Flyers’ zone but he couldn’t capitalise as Shane Owen absorbed his shot into the logo.

Keaton Jameson was Fife’s main source of offence in the opening period and he even struck the iron when his sharp angle rebound of an Ian Scheid shot was kept out by the post.

Mick Messner eventually opened the scoring as he snapped a wrist shot from deep on the powerplay which caught Owen flat footed as it zipped inside the pipe.

Brady Risk doubled Glasgow’s advantage just 36 seconds later with a top shelf finish as the hosts surged to a two-goal lead in the final two minutes of a scrappy first period.

In the second period, Liam Souliere absolutely robbed former Clan forward, Keaton Jameson as he arrived to the crease with a first time shot at the backdoor but was met by a pad from the sliding netminder.

Jason Fram put the Clan ahead by three shortly after when he picked up a loose puck in the slot and rifled a shot past Owen with delicate control.

Fife captain, Garet Hunt ramped up the physicality in the third period as he tracked down Miihkali Teppo and threw punches at the Finn with no response which drew a penalty as well as jeers from the Braehead crowd.

Glasgow held onto their commanding lead thanks to strong coordinated defence and a standout performance from Souliere in net before Rylan Schwartz and Messner scored just 25 seconds apart to round out the game.

Souliere was awarded player of the game after earning his first professional shutout as Glasgow now ready themselves for a tough visit to the Guildford Flames tomorrow night.
