The Premier Sports Glasgow Clan took all the plaudits as they routed the Fife Flyers and claimed two important points in the Challenge Cup.
The game got off to a bumpy start as Ethan Somoza was called for tripping after just 59 seconds before Brayden Burke was sent to the box for slashing to set up a 4-on-4 after just two minutes.
Both penalties were killed off though and the Clan started to apply offensive pressure with Hugo Roy ringing a first time shot on net which Shane Owen kicked wide.
Tristin Langan made a bustling dash round the boards to the back of the Flyers net later in the period before laying the puck off to Brett Neumann who tucked it into the top corner with ease.
Rylan Schwartz then picked up the puck just in front after a turnover by former Clan defenceman, Keaton Jamieson and snapped home a second for Glasgow.
Fife’s latest acquisition, Giordano Finoro burst onto a breakaway towards the end of the opening period as he charged down on Sami Aittokallio’s net and released a sharp shot on target but the Finn managed to deflect it wide.
In the second period, Jason Fram received a pass in the slot and hung on possession before rifling the puck past Owen to extend the Clan’s lead to three.
Neumann then grabbed his second of the game with another quick release from the slot before Rob Lachowicz rebounded Richard Jarusek’s shot and curled it into the Fife net for five.
The Flyers got on the boards in the third period through Vlastimil Dostalek as he hacked and whacked at an unsettled puck in the crease to eventually force it over the line.
It was only a consolation though as the game ended 5-1 for Glasgow in a romping home win as the Clan look to make a late dash towards progressing in the Challenge Cup.
