GAME RECAP

Glasgow Clan recorded their first shutout of the season as they saw off Fife Flyers 3-0 in the Challenge Cup.

Home netminder Landon Bow opened the game in fine form as he snuffed out a breakaway chance for Fife’s Martin Latal with the sweep of his stick in the opening minute.

The Clan opened the scoring thanks to Cole Ully as he drove from the left side of the rink into the slot and slid the puck under Shane Owen after a slick move to deke past two Flyers’ defencemen.

Liam Finlay doubled Glasgow’s advantage just 28 seconds later when he snapped the puck from a sharp angle into the roof of the Fife net.

In the second period, Bow pulled off an unbelievable stop when Lucas Chiodo’s shot bounced over his helmet and he batted the puck out of the air on the line to keep the Clan ahead by two.

The Flyers did score past Bow later in the period, but the goal was denied by a cross checking penalty that was called on Chiodo just seconds before Latal had time to put the puck in the net.

Ully then punished the Flyers on the resulting powerplay for the Clan as he sniped the puck from distance perfectly into the top corner of the Fife net.

Clan captain, Deven Sideroff though he’d grabbed a fourth Clan goal when he tipped a shot past Owen from the crease but it was waved off by the officials due to goaltender interference.

The Clan showed resilience throughout the remainder of the game to see out a three goal win over their East coast rivals and gain two important points in the Challenge Cup.
