The Premier Sports sponsored Glasgow Clan soared to a home win over Scottish Rivals in an action-packed derby in front of a sold out Braehead Arena.

Liam Souliere was given the start in net for the hosts with Lucas Brine backing him up and seeing Sami Aittokallio out the lineup after returning just a weekend before with a 90% save percentage against the Manchester Storm.

The Flyers were far more affected by short lines though with Captain, Garet Hunt suspended for two games and top point scorer, Anton Karlsson announcing his departure from the club just hours before faceoff.

With the Flyers playing just three lines against the Clan’s four full lines of forwards, Glasgow stormed into early control, with Brett Neumann breaking the deadlock with a tidy backhand finish after seven minutes.

The Flyers’ generated offensive chances off the rush, mainly through, former Clan forward, Keaton Jameson who tested Souliere with a low shot from left wing that had to be kicked clear.

In the second period, the Clan jumped into a two-goal lead with Brady Risk smartly sending Felix Pare in on a breakaway to slip a backhand through the five hole of Shane Owen.

Logan Neislon halved the defecit with a piece of individual brilliance as he sniped a well-placed shot into the top corner as the Flyers continued to struggle to generate offense.

Glasgow, after regrouping in the second intermission, found routes through the Fife defence with two goals in 90 seconds, the first coming from Rylan Schwartz after a great heads up pass by Jason Fram to the backdoor.

New signing, Mick Messner opened his account in Purple with the fourth Clan goal as he received a drop pass from Daniel Tedesco and snapped a quick shot which zipped past Owen as he stretched across his line.

Souliere stood tall to late chances from Neilson and Jameson while Owen mitigated the gap to three goals as the final buzzer sounded with the Clan taking a 9th consecutive home win over the Flyers.
