GAME RECAP

Glasgow Clan made it two wins from two over Fife Flyers this week, adding a 4-0 shutout win to move them into seventh place in the Elite League table.

The Clan picked up where they left off from Wednesday’s 9-4 win over the Kirkcaldy men as Liam Finlay opened the scoring early on as he deked past Shane Owen and slipped the puck into the gaping net before the fourth minute.

Charles-Antione Paiement struck the outside of the Clan’s post as the Flyers threatened Lucas Brine’s net and just narrowly missed out on levelling the score.

Tyson McLellan almost doubled the Clan’s lead later in the period when he got on the end of a cross-ice pass from Cole Ully at the backdoor, but he couldn’t force a shot past Owen.

The game then took a feisty turn as Alex Forbes was hit at the corner boards after the puck and his fellow teammates came in to defend the injured #57.

Fortunately, Forbes was still fit to return to play in the second period where the Clan continued to dominate the scoring chances, with Rylan Schwartz eventually sending a second goal into the Fife net.

Deven Sideroff was then denied by a spectacular save from Owen when he rebounded Mitchell Heard’s shot high on target only for the Flyers’ netminder to swiftly blocker the shot clear.

Owen was later bested again though as Matt Berry set up Matt Stief at the backdoor who slammed home a third Clan goal before the end of the second period.

In the third period, Heard picked up a fourth goal for the Clan as he glided into the Flyers’ zone and tidily snuck a shot under the Fife goalie’s pads.

The Clan saw out the remainder of the third period to secure back-to-back wins over the Flyers as Brine completed a first career shutout in the Elite League.
