GAME RECAP
Glasgow Clan grabbed their sixth consecutive Elite League win with a hard-fought 3-2 home victory over Dundee Stars.
Glasgow took an early lead through the productive pairing of Tyson McLellan and Liam Finlay as the number nine sent the puck into the Stars’ net direct from the service from Finlay.
The hosts continued to pressure the Dundee defence, forcing Jarrett Fiske into making a high number of important saves.
The Stars drew level before the end of the period though when Jake Elmer pounced on the powerplay and sniped the puck from the right side of the net for the equalising goal.
In form, Cole Ully quickly responded for the Clan when he rifled the puck across the Stars’ crease, deflecting off Fiske’s stick and going high into his own net.
Three minutes later, Ully doubled the Clan’s lead as well as his own goal tally for the night when he picked up a loose puck in the slot and smashed it home.
Dundee requested a review for goaltender interference on Clan’s Keaton Jameson on Fiske, but after the lengthy review, the officials stood with their original on-ice call.
The second period was an uneventful one by comparison, with each team killing off just one penalty and neither being able to score.
In the third period, Glasgow zeroed in on finalising their sixth straight win but were marred by poor discipline as they had to kill off five penalties in the final 20 minutes.
The Stars halved the deficit through Brett Gravelle late in the game when he forced the puck through Clan goalie Lucas Brine.
The home side still managed to see out the remainder of the game though and secure their first win of the weekend ahead of their away trip to Tayside on Sunday.
