GAME RECAP

Deven Sideroff helped Glasgow Clan clinch a second league win of the season as they needed overtime to edge Fife Flyers 5-4 in Kirkcaldy.

It was a first league meeting of the season between these two and while results in the Challenge Cup have been good of late, regular season points were badly needed.

Both sides were feeling each other out in the opening stages, but it was the Flyers who took the lead with almost 10 minutes on the clock.

Madi Dibhanek fired the puck across, where he found Maxim Musorov arriving to fire the shot past Clan netminder Lucas Brine to open the scoring.

The jubilation in the Flyers support only lasted a couple of minutes when Tyson McLellan managed to get on the end of his own rebound to fire Clan level for his second goal of the weekend.

It took Fife only 11 seconds to find the net after the restart as Ryan Foss finished off Patrick Kyte’s rebound to give them the perfect way to begin the second period.

Clan again restored parity just before the 34th minute as Liam Finlay found Cole Ully lurking at the back post and he beat Flyers netminder Shane Owen.

Owen had to be on top form to deny Sideroff a few minutes later after Phelix Martineau lost possession, but the Glasgow captain couldn’t take advantage.

However, the go-ahead goal came on the powerplay as Ully notched his second of the night with a shot from the top of the left circle and Clan were leading going into the third period.

A big 20-minute period was needed from both teams and while Fife hit the post through Lucas Chiodo, Martineau pulled the home side level with ten to go to set up an interesting finale in this clash.

The tension was building, but with just under two and a half minutes to go, Sideroff released a snapshot to leave Owen beaten and Clan edged in front again with a fourth goal to leave them on the cusp of victory.

Fife had other ideas though as Owen was pulled late on as they went for the extra attacker, which proved to be a good move as Michael Cichy struck with 26 seconds to go to tie the game in dramatic fashion.

Then Sideroff came up with the big moment with 1:50 to go in the extra period with an excellent top shelf finish, completing a four-point weekend.
