GAME RECAP

A double from Liam Finlay helped Glasgow Clan to a second straight win in the Challenge Cup, but had to hold firm to claim the 5-4 win in the face of a resilient Dundee Stars team.

Marc LeFebvre’s side went ahead just before the six-minute mark as Brett Gravelle opened the scoring to nudge the Stars ahead.

But Finlay got the first of his double with a blast from the blue line as the first period reached the halfway point and both sides were tied.

Keaton Jameson put the Clan ahead as he executed his finish to beat Dundee netminder Richard Sabol.

Finlay’s second and Glasgow’s third was a well taken backhanded finish into the roof of the net to open a two-goal gap late in the second period.

The drama of the middle session wasn’t over as Xavier Pouliot and Nick Prkusic both dropped the gloves as the game got a little more feisty.

There was a flurry of goals in the final five minutes as Gary Haden pounced on a rebound to make it 4-1 and a little more comfortable for the visitors.  Or so they thought.

Dominico Alberga scored Dundee’s second 33 seconds later to give them hope, which seemed to be extinguished as Devon Sideroff responded with Clan’s fifth almost immediately.

Late goals from Stars’ pair Jonathan McBean and Zach Tsekos pulled Dundee to within one in the final minutes, but Glasgow held on to win their second away game on Tayside in 2024.
