GAME RECAP

It was a frustrating night for Glasgow Clan as Dundee Stars came from two goals behind to take a 6-2 win at Dundee Ice Arena.

While Storm Éowyn put paid to Clan’s Pride night fixture against Fife Flyers, they travelled the relatively short distance for this Burns Night clash with Scottish rivals Dundee Stars and started well.

As ever, it was an interesting and absorbing first period, with both sides testing each other as they tried to gain an early advantage.

It was Clan who made the breakthrough inside the opening five minutes as Felix Parê put away a rebound after an initial chance by Keaton Jameson.

Corey Neilson’s men managed to repel two penalties as the time ticked down on the first period, preserving their slender first period lead.

Glasgow added a second goal as Deven Sideroff skated into the Stars zone and let a shot rip into the roof of the net.

There were some penalty issues, with Clan having four players in the box at one point and leading to a five-on-three powerplay opportunity for the home side.

It was a chance they duly took as Zach Tsekos poked in the loose puck from the edge of the crease to get them back on the board.

The game changed in what seemed like the blink of an eye when Tsekos picked up his and Stars’ second with a goal 57 seconds from the end of the middle period.

Then, almost immediately after the restart, Philippe Sanche struck 13 seconds later and Clan returned to the locker room 3-2 down.

Another five on three opportunity opened up early in the third for Dundee and it was Spencer Naas who capitalised with a fourth goal on the powerplay.

He soon added a fifth minutes later to really open up a gap, again with the extra man as he finished his chance through the legs of Clan goalie Lucas Brine.

Paré saw his night end early on an roughing wrap before Keanu Yamamoto made it 6-2 with a low shot from the wing.

A penalty shot gave the travelling Clan fans something to cheer about in the final minutes, but Tyson McLellan couldn’t convert as the final buzzer signalled the end of a disappointing  night on the road.
