GAME RECAP

Glasgow Clan’s weekend on the road ended without a point to show for their efforts as Coventry Blaze came from behind to win 3-1 at the Skydome.

Corey Neilson and his men were looking to end the weekend on a high note after adverse results earlier in the week, but again, the league points eluded them.

They started the game well and found the breakthrough just before the 10-minute mark when Liam Finlay assisted for Tyson McLellan, who sent Blaze goalie Mat Robson the wrong way for the opening goal.

Clan continued to make a good account of themselves, but couldn’t find the edge for another goal, but a slash from Mitchell Heard saw the Blaze gain a powerplay.

They made the most of it on 34 minutes when Jackson Cressey fired in from the left side circle to beat Bow and draw Kevin Moore’s side level.

The home side got the perfect start to the third as Kim Tallberg finished from the top of the crease to put them in front, just 14 seconds after the restart.

Clan had to make do without the services of experienced D-man, Simon Deprés from then 47th minute, where a review determined he was guilty of an elbowing rap, for which he received a five plus game penalty.

The visitors hung on in the major as Blaze couldn’t find a way through, but Glasgow were still playing catchup as the game started to head into the final minutes.

Chase Gresock and Jakob Stridsberg both went to the box for hooking and high sticks penalties respectively, with Clan on a five-on-three, but couldn’t make the advantage count.

Clan keeper Landon Bow was pulled in the final couple of minutes as they chased an equaliser at least.

However Michael Regush struck on the empty net with a minute and 10 to go to finish Glasgow off and send them home wondering about what might have been on another frustrating night.
