Glasgow Clan began a weekend of road games in Cardiff, but couldn’t pick up the points as the Devils took a 6-1 win at the Vindico Arena.

After three straight losses, it was always going to be a tough test to win in Cardiff as Clan sought a third victory of the season over them.

Mitchell Heard went close with an early wraparound, but it was the home side who broke the deadlock as Josh MacDonald found the net inside the opening four minutes.

Devils netminder Ben Bowns made a couple of good stops to prevent Liam Finlay and Heard as Glasgow chased a first period equaliser.

A big save from Landon Bow denied Jarrod Gourlay in the early stages of the second period as play resumed.

But a holding penalty on Cardiff’s Mark Richardson allowed the Clan to finally breach their opponents, with a familiar face to the home fans on the scoresheet.

Ex-Devil Cole Ully was the one to get it as he struck with a shot from the right side circle to beat Bowns and level the game.

The home side moved in front again as Riley Brandt struck a powerful shot from the centre to leave Bow beaten.

Tyler Busch bundled one in from outside the blue paint to make it 3-1 before Bradley Schoonbaert added a fourth for Cardiff a minute later to take them into the third period with a healthy lead.

Devils continued where they left off at the start of the third period when Cole Sanford buried his chance in the net and the scoreline looked more one sided.

Sam Duggan thought he had added another on a delayed penalty, but it was wiped out on review after a whistle had sounded before the puck crossed the line.

Ully was denied on a breakaway by Bowns with 11 minutes to go as the visitors looked to close the gap.

Ryan Barrow eventually scored Cardiff’s sixth goal to wrap up the goals for the night, with Clan starting the weekend on a disappointing note.
