GAME RECAP
Deven Sideroff’s goal with six minutes to go gave Glasgow Clan a first league win on the road in Cardiff for over five years.
It was a big victory for Corey Neilson’s side in Wales, the first of a two-game road trip that concludes at Guildford Flames on Saturday.
Both sides couldn’t be separated after the first 20 minutes of play as netminders Landon Bow and Taz Burman each faced 12 shots without either goal being breached.
Clan finally opened the scoring 66 seconds after the interval as Cole Ully picked up his fifth goal in five games, taking the assist from McLellan and firing in from the top of the right side circle.
Cardiff were level five minutes later as Kohen Olischefski struck from the centre for the equaliser as the game reached the halfway mark.
The home side took the lead through Josh McDonald, who found the net with his effort from inside of the left face off circle as Pete Russell’s men edged in front near the end of the second.
Clan got the perfect start to the third as Simon Després’s shot from the blue line took a touch off Rylan Schwartz on the way into the net after only 20 seconds from puck drop.
The Devils seemed to a little scrappy in the final period as they tried to regain control of the game, but couldn’t find a way past Bow.
But with six to go, Glasgow got the breakthrough as they enjoyed a spell of pressure in the Cardiff zone on their way to claiming the winner.
Steven Seigo found Sideroff at the blue line and with a quick swish of the stick, rocketed his shot past Burman for a priceless lead in the final stages.
The Clan held on despite Cardiff’s best efforts and sets them up for the trip to Guildford to complete the weekend.
