GAME RECAP
A trip to Belfast to take on the Giants didn’t go as hoped as Glasgow Clan ended the weekend on a low note, going down 5-1 at the SSE Arena.
Four days after meeting each other at Braehead in the Challenge Cup, league points were the reward for the winning team and despite a home win on Saturday over Nottingham Panthers, Corey Neilson’s men couldn’t make a double.
The home side went ahead shy of seven minutes when Grant Mismash’s effort was blocked by Clan goalie Landon Bow, but only into the path of Karl Boudrais, who finished the opener.
Giants made it two as they broke away quickly with a three-on-one chance, with Cameron Pound setting up Scott Conway to double the lead.
A second period slashing penalty for Mike Pelech helped Belfast with their third goal as Grant Mismash made it 3-0, bundling the puck past Bow as Giants went in at the second break in a good position.
Pelech was the player to find the net for the Clan just after halfway through the third period, getting in on a rebound to leave Belfast goalie Tom McCollum finally beaten.
The Giants were not done yet as Bobo Carpenter took the plaudits on another breakaway chance, with a little help from Pierre-Olivier Morin.
Then JJ Piccinich rounded things off with a goal two and a half minutes from the end, winning the puck at the blue line and firing past Bow to earn Belfast a home victory.
