GAME RECAP

Cole Ully’s overtime winner secured a rare victory for the Clan in Belfast as they came from behind to sink the league leaders, the Giants in a five-goal thriller.

After both sides had contrasting results on Friday night, this was a chance for both teams to try and end the weekend on a high, but it wouldn’t be easy for Clan at the SSE Arena.

A goalless first period was played as both netminders, Messrs Bow and Whistle, kept their respective sheets clean after the opening 20 minutes, despite Clan’s custodian being the busier of the two.

The game came to life in the second period and it was the hosts who found the net first when the Giants took advantage of Tyson McLellan took a seat for cross checking.

Scott Conway was the man to find the net as he left Bow beaten with a low shot to give the league leaders a lead five minutes after the first interval.

They added a second as Bobo Carpenter sent a shot into the top corner, thanks to fortunate break of the puck and Clan returned to the locker room two goals down.

It took the Clan three minutes into the third period to hit back as Liam Finlay successfully converted a one-time shot to beat Whistle and show they weren’t out of the game yet.

They survived a Simon Despres penalty for a high stick and when the Giants lost Ben Lake on a tripping call, Glasgow made the most of their powerplay opportunity.

On-form Mitchell Heard buried the equaliser with ten to go to square things up and set up a potential dramatic finish to the game.

Neither team could make the breakthrough so needed the extra period to try and separate them, where Clan completed their comeback.

Deven Sideroff picked the puck up on the right and found Ully with a perfect pass, putting his shot through Whistle and securing a first win in Northern Ireland since December 2023 and a four-point weekend.
