Festive Period Recap | Turning the Page as January Begins
As the Glasgow Clan move into a busy January schedule, the festive period provided a true test of depth, resilience, and character both on and off the ice.
Between 19 December and 4 January, the Clan played eight games, recording four wins and four losses, collecting nine points from a possible 18. It was a demanding stretch that saw encouraging performances, important points picked up, and plenty to build on as the season progresses.
Roster Updates
Going into the festive fixtures, the team saw the addition of Brady Risk and Daniel Tedesco who added depth to the forward lines. The festive period brought mixed news on the injury front, with several players returning to action while others unfortunately picked up knocks of their own.
Encouragingly, Colton Poolman, Félix Paré, and Hugo Roy all returned to the game sheet after recovering from a range of injuries, providing a welcome boost to the lineup.
Brayden Burke sustained a lower-body injury over the festive stretch but has since recovered and is expected to return to the lineup on Friday 9 January against the Sheffield Steelers.
Unfortunately, the Clan were dealt further setbacks as Brett Neumann and Cade Neilson both suffered lower-body injuries, ruling them out of recent games and training. Scans and consultations are ongoing, and the club will update the Purple Army as more information becomes available.
On the blue line, Chris McKay has been working through recovery from a significant upper-body muscle tear. The defenceman is nearing the end of his rehabilitation and is expected to return to the game sheet within the next couple of weeks, providing another important boost as January unfolds.
In goal, Sami Aittokallio unfortunately sustained a painful lower-body injury during the game against the Nottingham Panthers on 4 January 2026. While assessments are ongoing, it has been confirmed that this will be a lengthy recovery, and the club is actively working to secure injury cover as a matter of urgency.
Looking Ahead
This festive season proved particularly challenging, with a combination of injuries and unforeseen circumstances impacting the Clan both on and off the ice. Throughout it all, the support from the Purple Army was outstanding, with every home game over the festive period sold out. We’d like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who packed the arena and backed the team during a demanding stretch.
As we reach the midway point of the season, the Clan currently sit seventh in the standings. There is a clear and shared ambition across Management, the Coaching Staff, and the players to be higher up the table. That belief — and that hunger — will be the driving force as the team moves into the second half of the campaign.
With players returning to the lineup, others nearing full fitness, and a positive unified mood within the camp, the focus now turns firmly to January. The Clan are edging closer to full strength and are determined to build momentum, push up the standings, and ensure the second half of the season delivers the progress everyone is striving for.
