BLOG: More ticket improvements, Sunday face-offs & Bring a Buddy

Hi Purple Army,

I hope everyone is well and looking forward to two exciting home games this week against the Sheffield Steelers and Manchester Storm.

I thought the guys played well last Friday against Coventry, and brought the style and intensity that Pete is wanting to become regular here. The loss in Nottingham was disappointing and not something anyone at this club wants to see, however it’s back to the grind and hopefully we can get two important EIHL wins this week on home ice.

Following my last blog, in addition to the launch of the Teen Ticket we’ve made a further improvement to our ticket offering changing the silver section 16’s and under tickets from £16 to £12. Ticketing, how people are buying, the platforms they are using plus the prices are something we are spending a lot of time analysing with the aim of improving where possible. Rest assured we want the building full, we want an electric atmosphere and a place opposition teams fear coming to – it’s something we’ll continually look to achieve.

Just a reminder that this Sunday’s home game against Manchester is a 4:00pm face-off (Doors at 3:00pm). It’s the first time since I have joined the club that we have done this, I’d like to thank intu Braehead and Braehead Arena for accommodating the change. Sunday’s have always been a very difficult day to get fans in at Braehead, we’ve historically been a Saturday night team and 5 years ago getting 25 Saturday nights in the schedule was possible. However the league has totally changed since then, there use to be a 50/50 split on Saturday and Sunday home teams, but now the majority of teams want Saturday nights. So like most teams, we’ve had to absorb more midweek and Sunday night’s into our schedule. I made the decision to go for 4pm face-offs as I think it will ultimately help us entice more fans to games on a Sunday, where a 6pm face-off is very difficult for the majority if you have work or school the following morning. I appreciate it won’t suit everyone, but it has been done in the best interests of the club.

This Sunday’s game against Manchester will also include our highly popular ‘Air the Bear’ which allows the Purple Army to literally throw a soft toy onto the ice following a Clan goal. It’s a superb event every single season and always supported very well by the Clan fans. This year we will once again be supporting our partners at Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity. I encourage everyone to bring a soft toy along with them for the game, it’s for an outstanding cause and always makes a superb spectacle.

Over the coming days, we will be announcing the dates for this season’s ‘Bring a Buddy’ games where season ticket holders are encouraged to bring someone new to a Clan game for the very first time. The games are likely to be at the end of January, I’ve just got a few minor details to finalise before we make it public. It’s extremely important for any sporting club to continually bring new fans into their building and we’re no different. The ‘Bring a Buddy’ scheme is a way of doing that, while providing our superb season ticket holders with the opportunity of getting involved in spreading the name of the Glasgow Clan. Keep an eye on the Clan website and Clan social media over the coming days for further updates.
