SIGNING: Finlay agrees to Clan move
The Glasgow Clan are delighted to announce the signing of Canadian forward Liam Finlay ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.
The 27-year-old makes his move to the UK after spending the last two seasons in the ECHL with Allen Americans, where he helped them to the play-offs on both occasions.
And he revealed that as well as coach Corey Neilson’s sales pitch, there was another reason to make the move to Glasgow.
“I’m delighted to join the Clan and I’ve heard a lot of amazing things about the city,” he said.
“I actually have Scottish roots in my family, which is super neat so once I got talking to the head coach, Corey Neilson, he sold the team and the league even further.
“I’ve had positive feedback about the organisation so I can’t wait to get to Scotland and do my thing for the fans.”
Finlay played 96 times for the Americans in the last two seasons, scoring 47 goals and adding 53 assists – a shade over a point a game.
Prior to that, he was in Germany with EC Freiburg in DEL 2, where he played alongside recent Clan signing Tyson McLellan, with whom he will reunite.
He also has experience playing in Sweden, Slovakia and Finland after four years with the University of Denver, where he won a championship in 2017.
Head coach Corey Neilson welcomed his latest signing and outlined what Finlay will bring to the team in the new season.

“Liam is a proven goal scorer who’s quick and shifty,” he said. “He shows good creativity and has great chemistry with Tyson McLellan, from their time together in Germany.
“I’m pleased to have him on board with us for the new season and it’s another piece added to the team.”
Finlay will wear the #10 jersey for next season.
With that, Glasgow Clan can also confirm that Philippe Sanche will not be returning.
We want to thank Philippe for his efforts during the previous year and send him our best wishes for the future.
