NEWS: Relieved Barry glad to be off the mark
Aspray Glasgow West sponsored Glasgow Clan forward Matt Barry says scoring his first goal came as a “relief.”
Clan’s #88 finally got off the mark in Saturday’s 5-4 overtime defeat to Coventry Blaze, scoring a memorable first goal.
And he was coy when he learned his magnificent solo effort earned the Goal of the Week accolade from the Elite League.
“Getting the first goal was a relief to be honest,” he admitted. “It was good to get it out of the way. I remembered that they liked to sit back and force turnovers and I was able to catch the defender on his heels.

“I made a move and wanted to make sure I got a good shot on net. I was really pleased to see it go in.
“I actually didn’t realise it was the Goal of the Week, but I’m happy to help the team in any way.
“I think we are playing well and got unlucky this weekend however it was great to get a point each night in the standings.
“It’s put us in a great spot for the upcoming festive games which in turn can put us in a great position for the standings.”
