SIGNING: Chabot on board with the Clan

Glasgow Clan sponsored by Aspray Glasgow West are delighted to announce the signing of right winger Gabriel Chabot for the 2022-23 campaign ahead.
The 26-year-old is coming to Scotland from ECHL side Rapid City Rush, where he spent the last two seasons.
And the Alberta native is already looking forward to his move abroad, where one familiar face will be waiting to greet him in the Clan locker room.
“I’m super excited and after having some success last year, it gave me the chance to speak with coach Cameron,” Chabot said.
“I heard a lot of good things from guys that have played there, including Shawn Boutin, who is also at the Clan and I played with him in Rapid City.
“My expectations are difficult to set up right away as I’m not familiar with the league or the competition, but I expect to produce for the team offensively and I want us to be challenging on all fronts.
“From what I hear, the league in the UK is closer to being like a North American setup which makes it interesting and I’m looking forward to seeing what it’s about.”
Chabot turned pro two years where he joined Rapid City and his stats show a tale of two seasons, with significant increased productivity when it came to points.
His first campaign saw seven goals and six assists, for 13 points in 56 games followed by 58 points (27 and 31) in 83 appearances last season.
Prior to that, Chabot turned out for Boston University in the NCAA, with whom he made 134 appearances in his four years there between 2016 and 2020.
Clan head coach Malcolm Cameron says his new signing’s great year helped to gain the admiration of his peers.
“Gabriel comes off a good season where he picked up 22 goals and over 50points and was one of the hardest players to play against in the Mid-West Division.
“He’s well thought of by opposing coaches and other people I know around the ECHL and has many facets to his game, where he can contribute on the penalty kill and the powerplay.
“Gabe has great tenacity, skill and has a great shot. He’s been around pro hockey for a long time, with his father having played in the NHL as well. We’re pleased to have him and can’t wait to have on our team next season.”
Chabot will wear the #7 jersey for the Clan in 2022/23 and joins John Dunbar, Craig Peacock, Jordan Cownie, Stephen Dixon, Liam Stenton, Gergely Tóth, Zach Driscoll, Gary Haden, Colton Waltz, Steven McParland, Shawn Boutin, Mathieu Roy, Mitch Jones, Jordan Buesa, Harry Ferguson, Kevin Massy, Brad Kennedy and Euan Simpson on the roster for next season.
