NEWS: Clan host Fife in curtain raiser

Glasgow Clan sponsored by Aspray Glasgow West can confirm they will host Fife Flyers in the opening game of the 2022-23 Premier Sports Elite League season.
The Clan will kick off the new campaign in a return to Challenge Cup action on Friday 9th September (face off 7.30pm) when they host Todd Dutiaume’s side with two early points up for grabs.
For Clan, it will be a return to a tournament where they reached the semi-finals in 2019 and 2020, but sat out last year due to the protracted negotiations over Braehead Arena.
But the prospect of a mouth-watering derby against the Flyers will get the juices flowing of the Purple Army, who are counting the days until they can return ‘home.’
For Clan coach Malcolm Cameron, he’s equally excited about the new campaign and making his debut in the Challenge Cup competition at last.
“It’s definitely great to be starting the season off with a derby game against one of our biggest rivals,” he said.
“We missed out on the Challenge Cup because of what was going on behind the scenes, but it’s a chance for us to make an early mark and give the fans a chance to see the new guys coming in and what they can do.
“We’re all looking forward to being back and that’s certainly going to be a huge game for us to start the campaign.”
Clan will also face Dundee Stars on Sunday 11th September to complete the opening weekend, when they travel to Dundee Ice Arena on Challenge Cup duty, face off at 5.30pm.
Ticketing information for the game will be released at a future date and further fixture details will be released in due course.
