NEWS: Power of six add to Clan ranks

October 21, 2021

Six more players have arrived in Scotland for Aspray Glasgow West sponsored Glasgow Clan ahead of the new season.

Quinn O’Brien, Medric Mercier, Shane Starrett, Colton Yellow Horn, Guillaume Gauthier and Tim Shoup all arrived into Glasgow on Thursday.

And each of them are glad to see the team all come together at last with the new season looming.

“We’ve seen some of the other guys coming in so I’m pleased to have arrived myself and look forward to meeting everyone,” netminder Starrett said.

“It’s been an exciting time in the last few and it feels real to have finally touched down and I can’t wait to start working.”

Colton Yellow Horn added: “It’s great to be here and after speaking with the rest of the guys over the last few days, we’re all pumped to be in Scotland.

“A new move is always an interesting adventure and I can’t wait to get started to see what life in the UK is all about.”

The latest arrivals mean 11 non-homegrown players have now arrived in time for the new season, with a handful left to fly over.

Guillaume Gauthier is also thrilled at the adventure ahead as he took in his new surroundings.

“It’s wonderful to be finally in Scotland and after hearing so much about it, I can’t wait to explore it properly,” he said.

“It seems like a great place to play and it’ll be great to meet the fans, who have been so positive about me and the rest of the team.

Tim Shoup added: “It’s nice to finally touch down and after so many conversations and discussions, I’m delighted to be here.

“I can’t wait to get going and it’ll be great when we get to play in front of the Purple Army.”

For O’Brien and Mercier, this journey really has been a long time coming after first signing last year before the season was cancelled.

“I’m pleased to have this opportunity with the Clan,” O’Brien said. “I often wondered if it would finally come and I’m glad that it has.

“It’ll be great to get back playing again and to finally land and get ready for my first pro season is an exciting time.

Mercier added: “To have finally arrived feels really good and like Quinn said, I wondered if it would ever happen.

“Now it’s time to get the gear on, get working and give the fans a team to really be proud of.”
