NEWS: Starrett – We’ve a real solid team

Netminder for the Glasgow Clan, sponsored by Aspray Glasgow West, Shane Starrett reckons coach Malcolm Cameron has assembled quite the team for the new season.
Starrett was the first signing to be announced back in July and has sat back and watched the other names join him on the roster.
But one name in particular stood out and now he’s counting the days until his flight to Scotland where he can start the season properly.
“It’s looking like a real solid team we have and I was particularly pleased to see us pick up Dyson Stevenson,” he said. “We had a good year together in Wichita where he was the captain of that team.
“He led the team well and his great leadership along with the coach were a big plus for us in that season.
“It seems like I’ve been waiting forever since I signed and now I can’t believe we’re into the last month before I can head out to Scotland. I honestly can’t wait.
“I’ve played against the likes of Cody Sol and Tim Shoup this year and it’ll be interesting to speak to them about their time in the ECHL.
As he gets ready for his journey, he’s been working on keeping fit and his conditioning and is envious of one of his Elite League rivals, who is already in the UK.
“Everything’s been going well here and I’ve been sticking to the programme I’ve been working from,” he added. “I’ve been working out of a gym a couple of miles down the road where a lot of NHL and AHL guys have been training.
“Now they’ve all gone, it’s more one on one sessions with the coaches and now I’m skating with the local junior team, which has been helpful too.
“Seeing the rest of the league starting makes me that little more impatient to get over to Scotland and get started.
“In fact one of the guys I trained with, JC Brassard, is already over there with Nottingham Panthers and I can’t wait to get out there already.”
