ON THIS DAY: August 20th

As we get ready for the new season, it’s an opportunity to look back over the history of Braehead and Glasgow Clan since 2010.

We’ll look back on old games, revisit the output we did, wish happy birthday to Clan folk past and present and any events in the club’s history.

So, make sure your seatbelts are fastened and your seats are in an upright position. We’re off to Sweden.

2015 – Vaxjo Lakers 10 Braehead Clan 2 (Champions Hockey League)

An historic first game in European competition saw the Clan head to Sweden to take on SHL cracks Vaxjo Lakers and while there was plenty to enjoy on the trip, the game itself wasn’t one to fully enjoy.

The gulf in class told as the Swedes romped into a 5-1 first period lead and never looked like relinquishing it. In the end, Clan fell to a 10-2 loss, with Stefan Meyer scoring both goals in a somewhat harsh introduction to life in the Champions Hockey League.

In the build up to the game, Craig Anderson and Clan Radio were at the Vida Arena and spoke to Ric Jackman, Richard Hartmann and Thomas Nesbitt among others.

Post game, Clan TV’s Gerry McLaughlin spoke to Stefan Meyer, then Clan coach Ryan Finnerty and Vaxjo’s Liam Reddox
