GAME PREVIEW: Clan go Giant hunting

March 29, 2022

Glasgow Clan vs Belfast Giants

Braehead Arena, Glasgow (Face off 7.30pm)

Ticket details: Glasgow Clan

Webcast: Clan TV

When you’re chasing a league title, you find every team wants to bring you down a peg or two and Belfast Giants will have found that to be the case for large parts of the season.

So they can expect the same kind of treatment when they visit Glasgow in the latest leg of their title push. However they’ll find a team keen to get points on the board themselves in the race for the top eight.

It’s getting to the point where every little fine margin can make a massive difference in the overall scheme of things and for these two, they’ll take what they can to get them where they need to be.

Fans of Sheffield, Guildford, Coventry and Dundee will also have half an eye on this one, knowing the outcome could impact on their own objectives.

It promises to be quite the night ahead and whoever has the better start can set the tone for what could be a pivotal game in the season and not just for the two teams involved.

PLAYER TO WATCH

#64 David Goodwin

Belfast’s captain has encapsulated a lot of the great things they’ve done this season and with him wearing the treasured ‘C’, Adam Keefe knows his team are in safe hands on the ice.

With JJ Piccinich and Scott Conway leading the way in terms of points scoring, they haven’t been the only ones so when you point out Goodwin has 24 points in his last 11 games, you can understand why they’ve been so successful.

The 30-year-old has the flexibility of playing on the wing or through the centre and very much leads by example in a campaign where he’s already held a Challenge Cup aloft.

He’ll be dreaming of that league title in a matter of weeks and will want to drag his team there no matter what in the final few weeks.
