GLASGOW CLAN MATCH REPORT: NOTTINGHAM PANTHERS 7 GLASGOW CLAN 2
It was a disappointing night on the road as Glasgow Clan fell to a 7-2 loss at the Motorpoint Arena to in-form Nottingham Panthers.
Clan’s first away game in almost three weeks didn’t quite go as planned as Rich Chernomaz’s men secured their fifth straight win to add further frustration for the Glasgow side.
The start was far from ideal from Pete Russell’s point of view when Panthers captain Guillaume Lepine beat Joel Rumpel with a shot into the roof of the net shorthanded after three minutes.
The home side got the second shortly after as Alex Guptill got on the scoresheet for the first of his two on the night as Glasgow’s night got slightly worse.
Then Tyler Biggs with another shorthanded finish prompted the Clan coach to call a timeout where Rumpel was pulled and Gary Russell replaced him between the pipes.
Zack Fitzgerald pulled one back by the end of the first to show the visitors were still in the game, even if it was a false dawn.
Another three goals for Nottingham pretty much secured the game as a contest to the delight of the home fans.
Justin Kovacs made it 4-1 with a one timer at the back door as they continued to impose themselves on the game.
Then just over a minute later Mark Hurtubise added a fifth, with former Clan forward Robert Farmer picking up Panthers’ sixth on the 34th minute.
Glasgow’s second came courtesy of Scott Pitt early in the third period, but the home side hadn’t finished scoring as Guptill rounded things off as he turned in Dylan Olsen’s effort, completing a 7-2 scoreline, to the misery of the travelling contingent from Scotland.
