The Braehead Clan are delighted to announce the signing of 16-year-old Scottish forward Jordan Buesa on the club’s first ever apprenticeship scheme.
Buesa, from Troon in Ayrshire, joins the Clan having risen through the ranks at the North Ayrshire Academy and spent last season in Canada with the Toronto Titans.
Clan head coach Ryan Finnerty believes this is an exciting step forward for the organisation: “We’re delighted to welcome Jordan to the Clan, he’s one of the top players in his age group and certainly has an exciting future in the sport.
“We know Jordan well, he has trained with us on numerous occasions before, he has a great attitude, he wants to play and develop as a player, and that’s something I am excited to be working with.
“The plan is for Jordan to train with us on a daily basis, he will join us for pre-season training and a couple of games, thereafter we’ve already spoken to a number of EPL and NIHL team’s about sending him on loan to get some valuable ice time.
“There is no pressure on Jordan at all, we’ll see the benefit of his apprenticeship over the next two to three years. It’s all about developing Jordan’s talent into a professional ready for the Elite League.”
Clan Hockey & Operations Director Gareth Chalmers commented: “Ryan approached me towards the end of the season about the possibility of an apprenticeship scheme and adding Jordan to the organisation.
“We have a vision and plan for home grown players and over recent season’s have started adding more players from the West of Scotland to the roster.
“With the signing of Jordan this is the next step towards investing in local young players in the West of Scotland.
“We want to see as many Scottish players in the Clan roster as possible, and our new apprenticeship scheme will assist us in achieving those objectives.”
